It also uses a raised design so that long shock bodies won't bottom out on lowered cars. With these hats sleeves can be flipped to optimize droop and free up as much compression stroke as possible.\u003c\/p\u003e\n \u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eStock E36 \u003c\/span\u003emounts are a rubber bushing setup, which allows lots of deflection under high loads. This is great for ride comfort and noise, but not ideal for controlling a high spring rate in aggressive driving conditions. As spring rates, and therefore dampening forces go up, the damper can't effectively do its job because the top of the shaft is not mounted securely. In extreme cases, the stock rubber bushings have even been known to pull out of their mounts.
